As we Know, Sapphire glass is one of the hardest material of the world and also used in Jewelleries, camera lenses and for Fancy watches. This glass is four times tougher or harder than the regular glass used by the smartphone manufacturers. Last time, we heard, The Cupertino based techno giant is using Sapphire Glass in iPhone 6 display and we have already shared with you a video related to iPhone 6’s Sapphire Display that was passed through the Stress test. But recent update is just throwing water over our all expectation from Apple.
ccording to the recent update, Apple might not be used Sapphire glass in the upcoming iPhone 6. Some of the manufacturers have also reacted over the use of sapphire glass and given their comment that time is not right for switching from Gorilla Glass. According to them Sapphire glass is very tough and it always needs more hard material to cut. Like diamond or other material that has toughness rank 10 on hardness scale uses to cut Sapphire glass.
On the other side, some of them also said that Apple may use Sapphire glass in the camera lens. We remind you here, Apple was used this glass on iPhone 5S but not on display, it on home button that is embedded with Touch ID. The reason behind to use sapphire glass on Touch ID was that tiny scratch can affect the result of this feature.
If Apple will use sapphire glass in iPhone 6 large screen display then it will have estimated cost around $30, whereas current Gorilla glass only costs $ 3. So there may be a reason why Apple is not switching from sapphire.
According to the Ken Hong, Global Communications Director, LG; Sapphire glass is scratch resistant and durable but Gorilla glass is not going to be displace any time soon in LG Smartphones.
It is expected that Apple will launch iPhone 6 in September. As previous rumours have claimed that it will come in two different screen sizes 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch respectively.
